In the online method the applicant can apply online by visiting the national election commission website that www.NVSP.in or if he is staying in Voter id Uttar Pradesh(UP), he can visit the website of the Uttar Pradesh election commission. ( http://ceouttarpradesh.nic.in/).There is a link where apply for the fresh Voter ID is mentioned and needs to click on it. As soon as he clicks on the link the form number 6 is opened and the applicant needs to fill the details in it. He also needs to upload the ID proof, address proof and an Image of the passport size.
Then after verification of the details one can submit the form and a reference number to the applicant is provided which he needs to maintain for future inquiries. After a few days one can check the status of his application on-line with the reference number provided.
In the offline method one needs to visit the concerned office of the state election commission and ask for the form number 6 in printed form. As he is provided with the form, he needs to fill the details in it and also provide all the necessary documents with the form such as address proof, ID proof and a passport size photograph. He also needs to visit the office of the election commission and submit the form personally.
In the semi-online system, one needs to download the form number 6 and fill all the relevant details in it. Then he needs to send the complete form with all the documents to the election commission office by post.
After getting the application from the applicant at the office of the election commission, the form is checked for all the documents and details, and if everything is in order, the personal verification is asked. The officer of the election commission visits the address mentioned in the application personally and then allow to have a voter ID card with that address. Hence, the process for getting a voter ID is very simple.
However, this process is not for those who had the Voter Id card, but it is lost or severely damaged. In such cases the procedure is different.
